Updating to Tor 0.1.1.25 (anonymity network)
A few days ago, Tor 0.1.1.25 has been released. It is time to perform the update from a previous version that is already installed on the computer.
Downloading the Tor & Privoxy & Vidalia bundle

Visit the Tor download pageVisit the Tor download webpage.
Select the Tor & Privoxy & Vidalia bundle.

Confirm the download of the installerFirefox asks whether to download the installer.

49% of the file have been downloadedAt the moment, 49% of the file have been downloaded. The file will be saved on the Windows XP desktop.
Installing the Tor & Privoxy & Vidalia bundle

vidalia-bundle-0.1.1.25-0.0.7.exeDouble-click the file vidalia-bundle-0.1.1.25-0.0.7.exe that is now located on the Windows XP desktop.

Setup wizard of the Tor & Privoxy & Vidalia bundleWelcome to the setup wizard of the Tor & Privoxy & Vidalia bundle.
Tor & Privoxy & Vidalia have been previously installed, but they are not running at the moment.
Click Next to continue.

Select all components of the bundleChoose the components you wish to install. Select all components of the bundle.
Click Next to continue.

Installer proposes destination folderChoose the location where the installation should take place. In the example, the installer proposes a destination folder located on the unencrypted volume H:.

Click browseA different folder on a specific TrueCrypt volume shall be selected.
Click browse to select a folder on that encrypted volume.

Select the folder “Tor”Select the folder “Tor” that was created by a previous installation of the bundle. The new bundle will replace the previous bundle.
Press the OK button.

Destination folder is chosenThe destination folder is located on the TrueCrypt volume Z:. This volume has an available space of 2 GB. The required space is about 13 MB. So there is enough place.

Press the install buttonPress the install button.

Overwrite default configurationThere is already a Tor config file. Do you want to overwrite it with the default configuration?
Press Yes to do so.

Tor & Privoxy & Vidalia bundle is being installedWait a few moments while the Tor & Privoxy & Vidalia bundle is being installed.

Press the finish buttonThe installation is now complete.
To finish the Tor & Privoxy & Vidalia bundle setup wizard, and to run the installed components press the Finish button.
Running the Tor & Privoxy & Vidalia bundle

Minimize the Privoxy windowMinimize the Privoxy window.

NewTake a look at the Windows XP notification area. There are two new symbols. The green symbol is the Vidalia symbol. The blue symbol is the Privoxy symbol. Why isn’t there a symbol for Tor? I don’t know, but take it as it is. Everything is fine.

Press “Tor Disabled”Start Firefox that has already installed Torbutton. Click with the mouse button on the expression “Tor Disabled”.

Press the refresh buttonAfter the mouse click, you can see the green expression “Tor Enabled”.
Press the Firefox refresh button.

Browsing with Tor enabledIt may take a while until the whole page is displayed. In the example, it took about two minutes to get the whole webpage using the Tor network.
Updating the Tor & Privoxy & Vidalia bundle wasn’t a problem.
