How to: WordPress plugin Contact Form ][

WordPress offers the possibility to install plug-ins. For example, you may install a plug-in to insert a contact form. In this blog post, it will be shown how to download, install and test the plug-in Contact Form ][.

Downloading Contact Form ][

Download Contact Form ][ Download Contact Form ][.

Press the OK button Firefox asks whether to download the file wp-contact-form-2.zip.
Press the OK button.

Extract wp-contact-form-2.zip The file wp-contact-form-2.zip has been downloaded, and is located on the Windows XP desktop. Extract it with 7-Zip.

Folder wp-contact-form Now you can see the extracted folder wp-contact-form.

Installing Contact Form ][

Double-click on the FileZilla shortcut Double-click on the FileZilla shortcut that is located on the Windows XP desktop.
In the example, FileZilla itself is located in the encrypted TrueCrypt volume Z:.

Connect button in FileZilla's site manager The window of FileZilla's site manager is being opened.
Select your FTP site and press the connect button.

Select the blog folder FileZilla connects to the FTP site. In the example, the folder "blog" contains the WordPress files.
Press the mouse button to open the blog folder.

Open the wp-content folder FileZilla displays the content of the blog folder.
Hit the mouse button to open the wp-content folder.

Select the plugins folder FileZilla has opened the wp-content folder.
Select the plugins folder.

Plugins folder contains several plugins In the Example, the plugins folder contains several plugins:
Akismet, Spam Karma 2, hello.php, WP-PostViews, and WordPress Database Backup.

Drag and drop wp-contact-form Drag and drop the recently extracted folder wp-contact-form from the Windows XP desktop into the plugins folder.

Plugins section of your WordPress blog Visit with the Firefox browser the plugins section of your WordPress blog.

Activate the plug-in Contact Form ][ You can now activate the recently uploaded plug-in Contact Form ][.

The plugin is now activated The plugin is now activated.

Three plug-ins are activated Let's have a short overview over the available plug-ins. The plug-ins with the green backgrounds are activated. At the moment, there are three plug-ins activated.

Enter your e-mail address In the administration of your WordPress blog, there should be a special section for the newly added plugin Contact Form ][. You may now specify the e-mail address, the success message, and the error message.

Write contact page with special code Let's write a page with the page title "Contact". There is a special code that has to be inserted to display the contact form. This code is shown on the screenshot.

Send me an e-mail via this contact form On the image to the left, you can see the result. Everything is looking fine. You may now send me an e-mail via my contact form.

Testing Contact Form ][

Fill out the fields of the contact form In the example, all the fields have been filled out.
Press the "Send Message" button.

The message has been sent The message has been sent. There is a confirmation "Thanks for your comments!".

Received message Everything is fine: Thunderbird displays the received message.
