Copying Ocadia theme to WordPress blog

In this article it is shown how it was possible to copy the theme Ocadia that is currently used by Schott’s Blog from kai-schott.de to localhost.

This was done within these three main steps: in the first step, the ocadia-folder had to downloaded from kai-schott.de. Then in the second step, it had to be uploaded to localhost. And in the final step it had to be activated.

Let’s take a look at the Desktop Blog that is installed locally on localhost. At the moment, the Desktop Blog uses the WordPress standard theme.

Download the ocadia-folder

Start FileZilla

Double-click the FileZilla symbol on the Windows XP desktop.

Connect with FileZilla to default site

Go to the themes-folder

Go to the themes-folder as shown on the screenshot. In the themes-folder of this example, there are three different themes: classic, default, and ocadia. Select the ocadia-folder.

Download the ocadia-folder from the website to the Windows XP desktop.

Preparing the upload of ocadia-folder

Make sure that FileZilla Server is running. It is integrated in XAMPP.

Go to FileZilla's site manager

Select FileZilla’s site manager.

At the moment, the FileZilla client is connected to kai-schott.de. It is necessary to establish a connection to localhost.

Click the Connect button to connect to localhost.

Break current connection

At the moment, there is still a connection to kai-schott.de. The FileZilla client asks whether to break the current connection.
Press the Yes button.

The FileZilla client is now connected to localhost.
Let’s take a look at some subfolders. For example, there is the subfolders mediawiki (there are the files for the Desktop-Wiki located). And there is the wordpress-folder that contains the files for the Desktop Blog.

Upload ocadia-folder to localhost

Go to the themes-folder like shown on the screen shot.
Drag and drop the ocadia-folder from the Windows XP desktop into the themes subfolder.

Activate Ocadia theme

Select the Themes tab in Desktop Blog administration

Go to the administration of the Desktop Blog. Select the Themes tab.

An additional theme is available. It is Ocadia 1.2. Select this theme.

These were the necessary main steps: Download the ocadia-folder from kai-schott.de to the Windows XP desktop, and then upload it to localhost. In the final step, it was necessary to activate this theme.
