Backing up your website with FileZilla

For security reasons it is necessary to perform a backup of your website. Take a look at the following example.

Visit with your browser the administration area of your website. Click on “Backup on the fly”.

Double-click the FileZilla symbol

Double-click the FileZilla symbol on your machine.

FileZilla establishes an SSL encrypted connection to the remote site.
The backup file is prepared. It has the filename extension “.tgz”. The backup file contains all folders and files of the website. It doesn’t contain the MySQL database.
Double-click the backup file to start the download.

At the moment,14% of the backup file are transferred from the remote site to the local site.

About an hour later, the transfer from the remote site to the local site is complete. The backup file is now located at the Windows XP desktop.

The complete backup file may be burned to CD or DVD.
